Trek Bike Recall

One Million Trek Bikes Recalled.

A safety issue resulting in a rider becoming paralyzed is behind the recall of nearly one million trek bikes.Trek are aware of two other incidents relating to the same problem resulting in less severe injuries.

The consumer safety commission’s reason for the recall is a faulty quick release lever on the front wheel, that affects the breaks causing the wheel to stop turning.2012 Trek 1.1 Road Bike

The majority of the recall is in the United states with about 10% of the recall in Canada.

The bikes were made in Taiwan and China, are models from 2000 to 2015 and selling up to $1650.The Trek bike company will replace the quick release lever free and also give the customer a $20 bike accessory coupon.

Trek a leading brand

Trek is one of the worlds great manufacturers of bicycles. Mountain bikes ,track and road bikes all carry the Trek brand. Founded in in 1976 it is based in Wisconsin, USA.

In 2014 German Jens Voigt became the first rider to attempt the newly unified hour record for track pursuit bikes, on 18 September 2014 at the Velodrome Suisse, Grenchen, Switzerland on a Trek bicycle. He beat the previous record set by Sosenka by 1.410 km. with a new record of 51.110 km.
